Meet Rahul – LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
In May 2021, Rahul will celebrate working at Origin at Spring Creek for two years. For him, nursing is more than a profession one can achieve through schooling accreditation – he sees caretaking as something close to his soul and identity. With almost ten years of experience working with seniors in Alberta, Rahul brings skill, confidence, and passion to his role as LPN.
What does the day in your work life look like?
Sometimes busy, sometimes challenging and sometimes easy depending on the situation.
When did you first become interested in working with seniors?
I started working with seniors in January 2012 in home care as an HCA (Health Care Aide) in Calgary and moved to Canmore in May 2019.
What are some of your favourite parts of your job?
I love chatting with our seniors and learning from their experiences; I learn so many things about Canada. My daily interactions with seniors is the best part of my job.
As a local, what activities or places would you recommend to visitors or newcomers to Canmore?
Hiking and skiing, and enjoying local food.
What is one thing you wish the world could know about the work you do at Origin at Spring Creek?
I am happy in my job and my profession; not everyone can become a nurse. That’s what I realized in this profession – nursing should be in your mind and soul, not just by having a diploma or degree.
Thanks, Rahul!
